DESCRIPTION:Many Augustinian members will be helping out at various venues during the Heritage Weekend\, including manning a table about our society in the Priory Rooms. \nFull details are: \n“It’s all about Heritage!\nSaturday 9 September 2017\nPriory Church Rooms\, Church Green\, Bridlington \n10.30-4.00pm \nThis event will showcase local groups and organisations and what they are doing to promote and preserve our magnificent and diverse local heritage. \nParticipants include: Bridlington Augustinian Society\, Bridlington Civic Society\, East Yorkshire Local History Society\, Yorkshire Wolds Heritage Trust\, Yorkshire Wolds Heritage Railway\, U3A Family History Group\, and Frack Free Bridlington & Villages. \nThe East Yorkshire branch of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England will also be taking part\, and their contribution will include an exhibition of photographs from their competitions over the last 3 years. \nThere will also be an opportunity to learn more about the local Georgian architecture\, plus information about the career of William Kent\, the renowned 18th century architect and landscape gardener who spent his childhood in Bridlington Old Town. \nThe event includes illustrated talks throughout the day by Sue Reeves entitled “The Landing of the Queenes Majestie in the Bay of Burlington”. \nThere will be free entry to the nearby Bayle Museum for the day. \nA Church Trail will be available to help visitors explore the churches in the area that are taking part in this year’s Heritage Open Days event\, including the magnificent Bridlington Priory. \nTrails will also be available for self guided tours of Bridlington Old Town. OId Town has its own series of Blue Plaques’ with details of the history of nearly 30 properties\, some of which will be open throughout the day. Look out for the ‘H‘ signs!  Galleries\, restaurants\, cafes\, public houses\, and a variety of shops can also be found along the way.” \nThere are also events at the Priory Church.  See their website for details. \n
