SUMMARY:The Legacy of the Anglo Saxons
DESCRIPTION:This is the Purvis Memorial Lecture to be given by Ms Jenny Ashby. \nAbout the talk: Jenny will discuss the origins of the Anglo-Saxon peoples and why they came to Britain then will explore the ways they influenced – and are still influencing – Britain today. Illustrated throughout\, her talk will include several Yorkshire photos towards the end. \nAbout the speaker: Jenny is a member of the Witan\, which is the governing body of the English Companions\, a history society which is interested in the history and culture of Anglo-Saxon England. She is co-editor of their quarterly magazine. She is particularly interested in the art and architecture of the Anglo-Saxon period as well as the historical events and kingdoms of the times.  She is also the secretary of the Battle of Stamford Bridge Heritage Society. \nThis event is for members & their invited guests only.
