Christmas Evening 2025

The Bridlington Augustinians’ festive evening was its usual joyous affair with contributions from members.  The compere for the evening was Scribe Garry Sunley who interspersed the proceedings with groan-worthy Christmas cracker style jokes.

Carol French’s contribution included an interesting look at the very first Christmas card sent in 1843 and concluded with the “Alphabet of Christmas”.

Bro Robert Amos entertained us with a telling of the Christmas Story including as many chocolate brand names as he could. Not a “Penguin” though.  That was too difficult to fit in.

Ann Hudson recited the words of Jake Thackray’s comic song “The Hair of the Widow of Bridlington”, and in complete contrast, Chris Gatenby read an excerpt from “The Wind in the Willows” with field mice carollers, a reminder of what an enchanting book that is.

All members then took part in a challenging quiz set by Prior Michelle Stephens and the evening concluded with soft drinks and mince pies for all with plenty of chat and best wishes exchanged.
