A Brief Introduction to Windmills
16th October 2017 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
“A Brief Introduction to Windmills” – Geraldine Mathieson
For centuries, the tallest man-made features on the landscape were churches and windmills. As this region sees a resurgence of wind power, discover how East Yorkshire’s traditional windmills fitted into the bigger picture and appreciate the beauty of this machine at the cutting edge of technology. Geraldine is a hands-on mill enthusiast and heritage interpreter who enjoys delving in to the archives as much as playing with historic machinery and telling stories to mill visitors. This talk begins with an overview from the Crusades to Rank Hovis, followed by recent researches into Bridlington’s mills, but through Q&A could end anywhere!
