“Sir George Cayley, Local Hero”.- Roger Stanley

My talk will be about Sir George Cayley the 6th Baronet of Brompton 1773 to 1857. He was a philanthropist and inventor as well as a family man. There are inventions that we take for granted today, such as the spoked wheel, that were the brain child of Sir George. His note books, that came to light in the 1950s, have also earned him the title of the Father of Aeronautics.
